After a lot of effort I finally managed to find a good bird on Fair Isle during the autumn of 2012. Following the finding of Common Rosefinch, a Barred Warbler and a Little Bunting this superb Arctic Warbler was initially found in Boini Mire with a Yellow-browed Warbler before it moved to Shirva and nearby thistle patch where is showed 'very' well indeed for the next few days. It was often so close that you sometimes had to step back to focus optics on it. One of the things I love about Fair Isle is that most of the time many of the birds can be real showy. Most of my previous Arcitc Warblers, Scilly and Shetland, have been in tall tree's requiring either long wait times to see it or straining your next looking upwards all the time, or both.
