This species has now become my second favourite raptor after Honey Buzzard due in no small part to the spectacle of the migration that passed through southern Israel in late April. I was to finally witness tens of thousands of birds migrating through the Arava and through the Eilat Mountains.
It was spectacular birding and another of those most witness birding events.
As with Honey Buzzard plumage is variable but it was hard to beat the stunning males that passed low overhead in their hundreds.
