Fritillaries

Whilst the UK is blessed with some impressive looking butterflies it is the fritillaries that I find the most impressive with the Silver-washed Fritillary being my favourite UK butty. Locally this species is present in Belfairs Woods with a few others being seen in nearby woods. Belfairs also being a prime location for the rare Heath Fritillary.

Of the UK species I only need High-brown Fritillary, something I hope to put right next year, 2020, whilst Glanville's is the only other species that I do not have a photo of, my last encounter with these was way back in the 1990's so would effectively feel like a tick again.

This page is dedicated to just the fritillaries of the UK.
