I made my first visit to the superb California Coast way back in March 2007 not really knowing what to expect, the trip was booked very last minute on a great deal and I was to spend 6 days on the coast around Monterey and inland at the wetland of La Merced, which I only found out about when I arrived.
The birding was excellent and geared me towards a follow up trip a couple of years later.
This trip saw many seaduck in the harbours, stacks of gulls and lots of prime land birds, there was never a dull moment. I need to return again soon.
